DM-HANGAR: Origins

DM-Hangar is the flagship map of my portfolio.
It was originally made in Unreal editor 3 which came with Unreal Tournament 3.
As you can see in the picture it was in its bare bones state. That is until my good friend Andy suggested I move to UDK.
My original goal was to create a small 5-6 person Death match map.
I say "original" as it seems to have mutated into something a little larger the more I played with it. All that was in it at this stage was basic brushes and materials.
That quickly changed as I familiarized myself with static meshes and lighting.
Unfortunately there are no "in between" pictures of what happened from this stage and the finished result as it all happened so fast. I will however be taking more screen shots of my next project.

This is DM-Hangar in its final stage.
It has morphed from a small 5-6 person Death match map to a medium sized 10 person map.
I'm sure that I'll make a few tweaks here and there, perhaps a few scripted light sequences, but nothing warranting a major write up.
As of this point DM-Hangar is a finished map.

DM-HANGAR: College renewal
A level design assignment gave me the opportunity to dig out and update DM-Hangar with updated lighting, bot pathing and more in depth environment detail.
The major update is the lighting. The level was made brighter and the textures were replaced to pick enhance the brightness. A third level was also added to the central area to give the level more verticality. |
